Mechanical briquetting of straw for biogas purposes is the most tested, documented and safest technology of using straw for biogas purposes

  • Direct feeding into biogas reactor

    Our briquetting line offers eco-friendly energy production by managing and feeding cereal straw into bioreactors. It enables direct injection of substantial straw briquettes, demonstrated over three years.

  • Water absorption – the sponge effect

    Our straw briquetting treatment renders it highly water absorbent, resulting in even distribution within the bioreactor without floating covers, sediments, or clogging. Additionally, no additional stirring effect is needed for adding straw briquettes.

  • An energy optimal process

    Our briquetting process uses minimal energy and no water for pre-treatment, with electricity reuse as heat in the biogas reactor. Unlike conventional pre-treatment methods, which require high levels of water and energy, our process does not negatively impact biogas plant hydraulic capacity.

Introduction of straw briquettes increases biogas production

Biogas production is rapidly increasing worldwide, and the UK is no exception to this. Historically the biogas has been used for production of heat, electricity, in transport or finally upgraded and delivered to the natural gas grid. The latter is the end purpose for Kinetic Biofuel customer Farm Renewables on The Isle of Sheppey. Introducing straw briquettes into the reactor has provided for nearly 50% of the total biogas output.
